Triple-A No. 32 Marine Black is formulated from a base of coal tar pitch and is a tough, abrasion-resistant, anti-corrosive coating. It is used for the protection of marine structures and equipment from salt water and damp salt air corrosion. In addition to its penetrating and anti-corrosive features, No. 32 provides a tough abrasion resistant film of great durability. The integrity of the film is retained over long periods of service, under the most severe conditions. The coating is highly resistant to the effects of salt water, prevents corrosion and fouling and is extremely effective in reducing Electrolytic action. It is impervious to moisture and withstands the corrosive salt water air over prolonged periods of time.
No. 32 penetrates in to the pits and pores of the steel and wood surfaces and adheres with a strong and permanent bond. It withstands quick temperature changes and if properly applied will not chip, blister or peel. Resisting heat up to 350° F, the coating has been used very successfully on stacks as well as within the engine rooms themselves.
No. 32 can also be applied on damp surfaces if the surface is wiped ahead of the brush or roller, where such an application is necessary. Quite often in the marine industry exterior surfaces are damp from the dew or fog.
